The pursuit of happiness

Just got back from a long weekend with the family. Took them out camping, by a lake, with lots of trails and activities. They seemed to enjoy it. We left on Friday morning, got back on Sunday afternoon. Next thing I know, it's Monday and we're all back to school and work. It makes me wonder: is this part of life's mystery? The Pursuit of Happiness? Statistics would dictate that this would happen more often to some, and not very often (if at all) to others, but per the Bell Curve, most of us strive for it and obtain it, in whatever level.
We are given opportunities, and we are allowed to make choices. We don't always act on the opportunity, for various reasons (it's disguised, it's difficult to discern, it takes effort). And we don't always make the better choice (for many human reasons). So it's possible to act on the opportunity, but the choice is mis-handled. Or the opportunity is very well hidden, but the right choice is acted upon and the door is opened much easier. All choices can be and should be characterized as pursuit. The result is indetermined because of cause and effect, which is another subject...
